Intro for the first in a series of lectures on Caribbean and South American Art:
“Tonight’s talk will leave you feeling a little smarter, a little more enlightened, and a little more curious than you expected. You’re about to take a fast, visual journey through Latin pop art — from iconic figures like Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, to contemporary artists whose work lives just as comfortably on city walls and Instagram feeds as they do in major museums.
This isn’t an art history lecture. It’s a story about how images travel — through streets, cultures, politics, and now, our phones. It’s about color, humor, speed, rebellion, and how artists from South America and the Caribbean reshaped pop art long before it was trending.”
